Artemisia Gentileschi a Firenze
Scheduled to take place from October 21, 2026, to April 4, 2027, at the Museo degli Innocenti, the exhibition dedicated to Artemisia Gentileschi tells the story of a woman who, in the city of the Medici, found her voice, her freedom, and her place among the great masters of art.
The exhibition focuses in particular on Artemisia’s Florentine period, a time of artistic maturity, her admission to the Academy, and her relationships with the Medici court and Florence’s cultural milieu.
Florence represented a decisive moment in Artemisia Gentileschi’s life and career. In the city of the Medici, between 1613 and 1620, the artist gained a new sense of independence and established herself within a vibrant and prestigious cultural environment. The exhibition explores this important chapter through her works and her dialogue with the leading figures of seventeenth-century Florence, offering a portrait of an artist who was able to transform her own experience into a style of painting that was intense, powerful, and unmistakably her own.
