The main theme of the edition will be "Zero Waste: let's not waste food, let's not waste the planet" and it is precisely around this topic that talks and events will focus "bringing attention to concrete experiences of sustainability related both to the world of production and the environment, and to the world of end consumers". An entire section dedicated to gin is certainly a news to be highlighted
Curated by Francesco Caglioti and devised as a single exhibition in two venues, Palazzo Strozzi and the Museo Nazionale del Bargello, the exhibition is designed to celebrate Donatello in dialogue with institutions of Florence and indeed the whole of Italy, in addition to crucial international cooperation, in an effort to expand the debate on this master both in time and in space, in terms of materials, techniques and genres, in order finally to do justice to the artist’s universal dimension.
This latest work La Ferita imagines the Renaissance palazzo with a deep wound or gash revealing the interior of the building with some of Florence’s most iconic artworks occupying the space. Measuring 28 metres tall and 33 metres wide, this monumental photographic collage installation covers the primary façade of the Palazzo Strozzi and works like an anamorphosis, an illusion in which, observed from a specific viewpoint, various areas of the Palazzo Strozzi – the colonnade in the courtyard, an imaginary exhibition hall and a library – open up as a wound.
Responsible for works that have entered our collective imagination, largely thanks to his unique and deft ability to marry high and popular culture, Koons regards “shine” as a key feature of his artwork – from the post-modern reinvention of the ready-made to works in perfectly polished metal that appear like inflatable toys. Indeed, “shine” is far more than an ornament: it is the very substance of these works, as this reflective property brings together appearance and essence.
