Firenze Déco
Atmosfere degli anni Venti
From 2 April to 25 August 2026, Palazzo Medici Riccardi is hosting a major exhibition exploring Florence’s role in the development of Art Deco aesthetics. Curated by Lucia Mannini and organised by the Metropolitan City in collaboration with the MUS.E Foundation, the exhibition recreates the creative atmosphere of the 1920s, when the city became a leading centre for the applied arts, fashion, design, stage design and artistic craftsmanship.
The exhibition highlights collaborations, ateliers and workshops that helped define a style extending beyond local boundaries: the exhibition explores links with French culture, the motifs of Commedia dell’Arte masks, the presence of Florentine artists at the Monza Biennales, the influence of Futurism on visual communication in the 1920s, and the city’s fashion scene, shaped by the visions of Ferragamo and Thayaht.
Through objects, clothing, furnishings, posters and jewellery, visitors retrace a decade that left a lasting mark on Florence’s modern identity, demonstrating how the city managed to combine artisanal tradition with an innovative spirit.
Exhibition hours: from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm. Last admission: 6.00 pm. Closed on Wednesdays.
Venue: Palazzo Medici Riccardi, Florence
