And now the Hotel Bernini Palace, the historic hotel in Piazza San Firenze, has been awarded five stars — a distinction that would certainly have pleased the protagonists of Florence as capital (1865–1871), who used to make important decisions there. 

Yes, right in what is now the breakfast room (once the “buvette”), a space whose ceiling is bordered with portraits of the parliamentarians of the time — the men who shaped Italian unification: Giuseppe Garibaldi, Nero Corsini, Giuseppe Montanelli, Cosimo Ridolfi, Vincenzo Salvagnoli, and Manfredo Fanti.
