Among the wonders of Florence not to be missed is the Boboli Gardens.
Born as the grand-ducal garden of the Pitti Palace, it is also connected to the Fort of Belvedere, a military outpost for the security of the sovereign and his family.
The Medici first took care of its arrangement...
creating the model of Italian garden that became an example for many European courts.
The vast green area divided in a regular way, is a real outdoor museum, populated with ancient and Renaissance statues, adorned with caves, first of all the famous one made by Bernardo Buontalenti, and large fountains, like that of Neptune and the Ocean.
The successive dynasties of Lorraine and Savoy...
further enriched the structure, widening the boundaries along the ancient city walls.
Of remarkable visual suggestion is the terraced area where there is the eighteenth-century pavilion of the Kaffeehaus, a rare example of rococo architecture in Tuscany or the Limonaia, built by Zanobi del Rosso.
