Among the many reasons to return to visit the Uffizi Gallery an exhibition dedicated to a remarkable work of Leonardo da Vinci's master, Andrea del Verrocchio. Granted in deposit by the Uffizi to a church in the Florentine territory about a century ago, it now returns to the Uffizi for a special exhibition. It is the sumptuous altarpiece depicting the Holy Conversation with Saints Zanobi, Francesco, Giovanni Battista and Niccolò, called "Pala Macinghi" from the name of the family for which it was made.

The work, recently restored by the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, is on display on the second floor of the Uffizi between the room dedicated to Leonardo and the one dedicated to Raffaello and Michelangelo. The restoration of the painting highlighted the details of the embroidery and gems on the mantles of the holy bishops, the extraordinary refinement of the jewelry, the excellent quality of painting in the rendering of materials and the complex, studied architecture of the scene. The real jewel is the model of the city of Florence offered by San Zanobi to the Madonna, in which you can recognize the dome of the Duomo in the center of various other monuments, some of which have disappeared.
